IMA Future
IMA is poised to move from its current status as a unique and highly successful grass-roots volunteer-based organization for women in music to a structure that can sustain it as an educational institution well beyond our lifetimes.
In preparation for this transition IMA has:
- founded a permanent site, IMAeast, in Goshen, Massachussetts
- nominated new members to its existing board of directors
- enlisted the aid of a fundraising professional
- outlined a plan for a capital campaign
- developed architectural plans for the conversion of the IMAeast barn into a recording,
performance, workshop and bunk facility
- begun limited programming at IMAeast
- continued programming and studio work at IMAwest
In 2003 IMA has:
- launched phase one of its capital campaign and raised $150,000 to begin barn conversion
- launched phase 2 or it's capital campaign to raise the additional $200,000 needed to raise the barn.
By June of 2004:
- IMA had completed the first stage of the barn conversion.
- Had built 2 yurts for student housing and artist retreat space.
within the next three years IMA will:
- launch phase three of its fundraising campaign and raise $1.25 million in capital, scholarship, staff development, general operating and endowment funds
- finish barn conversion
- expand kitchen to accommodate cooking for workshops and camps
- produce year round programming including: a bimonthly concert and workshop series; Two "band emersion" summer sessions for adults and continue to offer three eight day rock and roll camp geared toward teen-aged girls
To do so IMA will:
- develop and utilize the Board of Directors as active participants in fundraising as well as in resource and organizational development
- hire staff to facilitate fundraising and administrative tasks
expand promotion to increase revenue
- continue to produce annual benefit music festival in Northern California
- develop a fundraising festival in Western Massachusetts
Most urgently, IMA is looking for individuals interested in:
